Quick answer
Most adult hockey players should start at a 5/8" hollow. Go deeper (9/16" or 1/2") if you are lighter, skate on hard cold ice, or want more bite for tight turns. Go shallower (3/4" or more) if you are heavier, skate on soft ice, or want more glide and speed. Figure skaters usually run 7/16" to 5/8" depending on level. Not sure?
