Skate Sharpening
How much does skate sharpening cost?
Skate sharpening at Ice Box Hockey starts at $9.99. We sharpen hockey skates, figure skates, and goalie skates using professional Sparx and Blackstone machines.
Do you do walk-in skate sharpening?
Yes — walk-ins are always welcome. Most sharpenings are done while you wait. We're located inside the Skating Edge Ice Arena at 23770 S Western Ave, Harbor City, CA 90710.
How often should I sharpen my hockey skates?
Most recreational players sharpen every 10–15 hours of ice time. Competitive players often sharpen before every game or every 6–8 hours. If you notice slipping on crossovers or difficulty holding edges, it's time.
What skate hollow should I use?
The most common hollow is 1/2 inch. Lighter or more agile players often prefer a deeper hollow (3/8"), while heavier players or those wanting more glide prefer shallower (5/8" or 3/4"). Our staff can recommend the right hollow for your style and weight.
Do you sharpen figure skates?
Yes. We sharpen all ice skate types including hockey, figure, goalie, and recreational skates.
Blade Profiling
What is skate blade profiling?
Blade profiling shapes the rocker curve along the bottom of your blade to match your position, weight, and skating style. The right profile improves acceleration, agility, and edge engagement. It's the same technology used by NHL equipment staff.
How much does blade profiling cost?
Elite E-P3 blade profiling starts at $39.99. This includes a consultation and assessment to find the optimal profile for your game.
What is TRUE SVH 3D foot scanning?
TRUE SVH 3D foot scanning uses precision imaging to map your foot's length, width, arch height, and volume. This data guides skate selection and blade profile recommendations for a true custom fit.
How long does a profiling appointment take?
A full Elite E-P3 profiling appointment takes approximately 30–45 minutes. Appointments are recommended — call (310) 346-4960 or visit us in store.

Do you offer skate fitting?

Yes — we carry full player packages for youth, junior, intermediate, and senior players, including skates, sticks, helmets, protective gear, and accessories from top brands.
