Between the Kings' back-to-back Stanley Cups, a growing youth hockey infrastructure, and multiple year-round rinks, LA has more hockey happening than most people realize. Here's your guide to playing hockey in Los Angeles.

Ice Rinks in Southern California

As of 2026, there are 25 active year-round ice hockey rinks across Southern California — from Santa Barbara down to San Diego. The two largest networks are The Rinks / Great Park Ice (Anaheim Ducks affiliated) and the ASEC / LA Kings partner facilities.

Orange County

• Great Park Ice & FivePoint Arena (Irvine) — 4 ice surfaces; official Anaheim Ducks training facility. Youth & adult leagues, tournaments, pick-up hockey.
• Anaheim ICE / The Rinks (Anaheim) — Full-service rink with youth rec leagues, adult leagues, and stick time.
• KHS ICE / The Rinks (Anaheim) — Hockey-focused facility with daily stick time, pick-up hockey, girls hockey, and adult leagues.
• Yorba Linda ICE / The Rinks (Yorba Linda) — Youth & adult rec leagues, pick-up hockey.

• Salvation Army Kroc Center Ice Arena (San Diego) — Only year-round rink in central San Diego. 5-division adult league, youth hockey, drop-in.
• UTC Ice Sports Center (San Diego) — Located inside UTC Shopping Center. Piranhas youth hockey, adult leagues, Saints travel hockey.

Inland Empire

Santa Barbara County

• Ice in Paradise (Goleta) — Santa Barbara Adult Hockey League, stick & puck, pick-up games, and learn to play programs.

Youth Hockey: SCAHA and Local Programs

SCAHA (Southern California Amateur Hockey Association) is the governing body for most youth hockey in the region. Programs run from Learn to Skate through Tier 1 Bantam/Midget level. Registration typically opens in spring for the following fall season.

The Bay Harbor Red Wings are one of the South Bay's most active youth programs, based out of Toyota Sports Performance Center. The Ice Box is their official gear partner — many of their players and families shop here for everything from first skates to tournament equipment.

Adult Hockey in Los Angeles

Adult leagues in LA range from beginner-friendly D-leagues to more competitive A/B-level divisions. Most rinks run their own house leagues, and several independent organizations run cross-rink leagues. The LA Kings also run adult programs at their facilities. Pickup hockey (stick time) is available most mornings and evenings at Toyota Sports Performance Center and Pickwick Ice.

Getting Started: Learn to Skate

Never skated before? Every major rink in LA offers Learn to Skate programs. Once you're comfortable on skates, most rinks offer beginner hockey programs ("Hockey 101" or equivalent) that teach puck handling and basic positioning in a non-contact setting before placing players into house leagues.
